As beauty regimens go, I always believed mine was pretty low-key. But looking at my bathroom shelves this morning, I realise I'm not as understated as I thought. I do love a good beauty product and am a total sucker for anything that promises to make me look 12/ be more glowy/ less liney, even more so after my smallest recently asked me why I had “ so many deep lines all over my face”. However, time is of the essence and whatever I'm going to use, really has to work. I’ve always been fascinated by people’s beauty routines, one of my favourite jobs was as a beauty assistant on a women’s magazine and so to begin our wellness series, we’re delving into my own bathroom shelves, sharing my best products and discoveries.
My mother has drilled the importance of sunscreen into me ever since I was tiny and now it’s my first port of call, each morning as I get dressed, even if the sun is nowhere to be seen; for day to day, I alternate between Ultrasun’s honey tinted SPF 50 which also doubles as my foundation and a brilliantly, light, mousse from Heliocare. My best discovery for the boys' ultra-sensitive skin is from Altruist and was developed by an Australian dermatologist who got fed up with ridiculously expensive sunscreens.
Skincare gets more of my attention than make-up; the theory being that if my skin is good, the need for makeup is less.
